Could someone give me a little more insight to this song in particular with the second stanza where he says "You teach me how to kill and be killed"?  I noticed when I got the DVD that the title of it was this, so I figured there is something more to it than I understand.

Thanks

Well I guess the fact that there are no responses suggests that no one knows.

And I'm not even all that smart.

Geof, I'm sure that you are totally right.

Ok here's my best guess:

Maybe to kill is to reveal the Gospel to an unbeliever? When an unbeliever accepts the truth he dies to his old self. As a Christian we are supposed to die daily. Maybe kill isn't such a bad thing. Maybe it's kill to be raised with Christ and set free? Totally just throwing ideas out. I could be very wrong Smile

Just found this quote online. Might help:

“I’ve found that often success looks more like failure, riches more like poverty and real life often feels more like death… the Christian life is very literally the process by which we are killed.” - Derek Webb

Thank you so much for your posts.  Very good information and helps explain some things about the song.  I love his music, but sometimes it helps to know more and frankly I get more out of the songs when I can see where he is going with it.  This just makes it an even better song.
