It's a decent CD, it just doesn't sound like Caedmon's. It sounds pre-fab, like anyone could have recorded it and then Cliff and the gang went in and did some vocals. I still love Caedmon's and will stick with them no matter what. Been a fan too long to quit now. But I do hope the next CD is more distinctively Caedmon's.
Define "distinstively Caedmon's"... Oh, people say this all the time, and all your "I must not be a hardcore Caedmon's fan" crap. No one cares. Stop trying to explain the reality of the world to the plebes, everyone. Some people just have limited understanding. reality? Funny, I thought of all the words I used in that post, you'd find another one to pull out. Like "crap" or "plebe" or "limited understanding." But hey, reality works.

As a former administrator here, I want to say that we've always wanted this place to be set aside for open and honest criticism of the band. I know that they've been stung by some of the stuff that's been said here in the past, but ... if we all wanted to be Caedmon's Call cheerleaders, we'd hang out at the caedmonscall.com message board [that doesn't even exist].
The people who complain about the band are very passionate about it. Why? They know that CC has the ability to not suck. I think most everyone who's complaining also knows that this is largely a case where the suck is being thrust upon the band, and so our complaints are more against the system than they are against the band. I fully expect that they did the best they could given the constraints that they had.
That said, I haven't bought ITCOA2 in the almost-month it's been out, and I've decided that I'm just not going to buy it at all. I don't want to support the cheapening of a band that I love and have invested a lot of time and money into. Some might argue that this could be damaging to the band, as diminishing commercial viability could cause Essential to Andy Peterson the band. I say that I just refuse to buy music that I'm fairly sure I'm not going to like. I'm voting with my wallet.

I didn't even realize it was coming out. I haven't really bothered to listen to any of the songs. And I find that I don't really care. Let me know when the label lets the band release something whose title doesn't have a "2" tacked on the end...

...I don't know, it's not so bad that I'm sorry I bought it. I like about half of the album. Jeff

I don't think I'd be SORRY if I bought it... it's just not on my list of priorities to buy. The fact that I still don't have Imogen Heap's album concerns me a great deal more...

Wow, haven't been around much lately (how YOU doin?) and kinda surprised at how fully anti- everyone is about the reocrd. It definitely isn't my favorite (probably is my least favorite), but I've really enjoyed all the other albums over all (I loved the first ITCOA, but I'm also a worship leader, so maybe taht had something to do with it?).
I sent in my detailed thoughts on the record to them with other worship leaders who were sent a copy of the album. There are some pretty good songs, but overall, I don't think very much of it would be useful in my church at a corporate level. Some of the songs like Rest Upon Us are more of a personal worship song, and Great and Mighty has a few lines that seem like throw-away/cliche lines that don't really fit with the previous line, but I don't think it's all bad. I would have bought it if I hadn't gotten a copy as a worship leader.
I don't have any issues with musical integrity. The reality is that they don't have Derek and Aaron writing songs for them any more. That's what hurt them the most. Maybe we shoudl just pray for a reunion with Aaron Tate!

let's face it... we want the writers back. Derek and Aaron's words made the CDs what they were. each song was dense with meaning.
I like Andy O's stuff but its not seasoned like Derek's or Aaron's. I mean Caedmon's is like a sound track to my life.
I like this CD, but i don't LOVE it. Its more background music to me. to be honest, it sounds like CCM and Caedmon's saved me from CCM eight years ago. here are seven people who actually write and play there own music. you could hear everyone working together. they were refreshing. The only song that i really like is " the Story"
what's with Sing His Love on this CD and Father Long before creation on IG's Beams of Heaven. There are the same song. one with a POP Praise chorus and one a straight up Hymn. I like the fact that its a Chinese song ... so the chorus works. I can sing and bop in my car to it. but it feels doctored to sell to a demographic.
I LOVED Share the Well because it showed Passion and a smooth transition in the Post Derek and Aaron era. they needed to bond and regroup.
