So, the song Ballad in Plain Red has a funny little loop going on (I think on a toy piano), and it sounds a lot like a Rich Mullins song.  Just wondering if anyone knew the song it was, um, sampled from.  Don't have any of Mr. Mullins' cds myself, so I'm kind of stuck with this frustrating sort-of-memory thing.  Um, help.

Thanks

It's not a sample ... it's something Paul Moak played on some instrument he has.

i really love this song.  everytime i see derek i mean to ask him if he was listening to the Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" when he got the idea for this song, but i always forget.  they're both very similar.

I'm sure the entire Rumor Forum community was on edge, anxiously searching for a link between this rather creative Derek Webb song and a Rich Mullins classic.  Well wait and search no more.  The song "Save Me" (which seems to be a Caedmon's favorite) has an ethereal little trebble part to it that, if I'm not mistaken, is at least terribly close to the little toy piano part in "Ballad in Plain Red."  Maybe this means nothing, okay on the grand scheme of things it definitely means nothing, but at least i'll be able to sleep tonight.  Rather, there is that much more potential for sleep.

You really should buy all of Rich Mullins' cds.  I honestly think he's the greatest songwriter to ever live.  Honestly.
